PolyLight at the Lion Bar & Club, Walsall

PolyLight recently completed the installation of their innovative anti-slip illuminated nosing inserts in the Lion Bar & Club, Walsall near Birmingham. The product was fitted around the club, providing easy to see illuminated edges to all potential trip hazard areas, complying with Health and Safety regulations. This particular project highlighted the need for more defined edging to indicate not only stairs but also smaller changes in floor level from one area to another in and around the bar, and surrounding the recessed dance floor. These areas where essentially laid out over three levels in all, so providing a challenge when the house lighting was subdued and the dance lighting in use.


PolyLight proved to be the ideal solution to the problem at hand. After installation the edges to the differing levels were clearly defined and the overall effect of the PolyLight within the room was pleasing to the eye whether lit or not. The PolyLight product ticks all the boxes when it comes to providing an extremely affordable safety feature that is not only illuminated and anti –slip but is also aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with the application.


PolyLight incorporates the Light Tape electroluminescent lighting product into its design which also makes the lighting system extremely economical to run. PolyLight is available in a variety of sizes, featuring either 12mm or 25mm illuminated strips as required, for either indoor or outdoor stairs or other potential trip hazard areas. PolyLight is offered with up to 6 grades of anti slip and both the anti slip insert and the Light Tape illumination source come in a variety of colours.

PolyLight connections are embedded in resin making the product waterproof.

PolyLight anti-slip illuminated inserts have been developed to fit into standard Aluminum profiles, timber stairs and decking.

What is Light Tape?

Light Tape® could reduce CO2 output by 100’s of 1000’s of Tons every year, save millions of pounds worth of electricity, plus it’s the most environmentally friendly lighting product on the planet.

PS: it’s also less expensive to buy, install and maintain than traditional display lighting.

Light Tape is made up of metal ribbon coated in Sylvania phosphor and encapsulated in a Honeywell laminate. Light Tape has no glass, no gas, and no mercury/heavy metals and so is user and environment friendly. Light tape provides an 85% - 90% energy saving against other commercially available light sources such as Neon and Cold Cathode. Light Tape uses 1 Watt per Meter at 25mm (1”) wide, a 100m length of 25mm wide Light Tape only uses the same power as a 100w light bulb. Due to its ultrathin profile of less than 1mm Light Tape provides a neater, modern, space saving alterative that is easy to install with little to no maintenance and has a long working life of up to 40,000 hours.

Development kits for Light Tape® enabling systems to be easily developed, tried and tested are now available from Light Tape® UK which operates with full sales and marketing capabilities, as well as warehousing to enable fast delivery from stock.
